Double Decker Bus Coffee Mug

Introduced by the British in 1926, double-decker buses were once the pride of Calcutta’s public transport, running between Shyambazar and Kalighat with a 56-passenger capacity. Over 350 of these red, iconic, two-tier vehicles graced the city by the 1980s. They were phased out by the 1990s and early 2000s due to high maintenance, low fuel efficiency, and traffic congestion, although efforts have been made to reintroduce them as tourist attractions.
