Established in 1845, Khelat Bhawan, also known as Pathuria Ghata Ghosh Bari, stands as a testament to Bengali cultural heritage and spiritual devotion. For over 175 years, this magnificent mansion has been the heart of cultural and religious activities in Kolkata.
The house gained spiritual significance in 1881 when Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, the great saint and mystic, blessed it with his divine presence. This visit sanctified the premises and added to its spiritual importance in Bengali culture.
Since 1855, we have been celebrating Durga Puja with unwavering devotion, making it one of the oldest continuous Puja celebrations in Kolkata. Our Jagadhatri Puja is equally renowned for its traditional rituals and community participation.
Today, Khelat Bhawan operates under three active trusts, each dedicated to different aspects of cultural preservation: religious devotion, classical arts promotion, and community service. We continue to serve as a bridge between Bengal’s glorious past and its promising future.
