Shakchunni (Fridge Magnet)

Shankchunni – comes from two words, shank(conch shell) & churna (powder). Traditionally married Bengali women usually wears 3 bangles – 1 white (shankha), 1 red (pola / red coral), 1 loha ( iron). Shankchunni is a ghost of married woman who wears the shankha(white one) atleast. She died either due to abuse or has some unfulfilled desires. These often haunts the husband’s family and possesses other young married woman. If I remember correctly Shankchunni loves fish specially Hilsa and would often haunt the kitchen when cooking fish.
